The streets that I paint are empty of life, except for the occasional ghost image and sometimes a dog or a bird. I work primarily from photographs, many taken during the time when I was painting in the streets of Chicago. These images record the memory of paintings that I have done over the years, corners where I set up my easel, a little comfort station for my dog, and a chair either for myself or a passer by interested in observing for a while.
In my current work, the exact physical location as the intersection of two particular streets is not always apparent and no longer important.
